Author Guidelines

Before you submit

Thank you for considering the Journal of Research and Innovation for Societal Advancement. JRISA welcomes authors at different stages of scholarly development. We aim to make the submission process accessible while maintaining clear expectations for academic integrity and responsible research.

Before submitting, authors should confirm that:

• the manuscript falls within the journal’s broad multidisciplinary scope
• the manuscript has not been published elsewhere
• all listed authors have made appropriate contributions and approved the submission
• citations and references have been verified
• any necessary research ethics approvals or consent procedures have been completed
• use of generative artificial intelligence has been disclosed when required
• the manuscript is written clearly enough to undergo scholarly review

Language

JRISA publishes primarily in English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to submit. Manuscripts do not need to demonstrate native-level English, but the writing must be sufficiently clear for editors and reviewers to evaluate the scholarship accurately.

Authorship

Authorship should reflect meaningful scholarly contribution. Appropriate contributions may include development of the research question, study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, substantial literature synthesis, manuscript drafting, or substantive manuscript revision.

Providing general supervision, paid tutoring, administrative assistance, proofreading, funding, or access to resources does not by itself justify authorship. Individuals whose contributions do not meet authorship criteria may be acknowledged. All authors must approve the submitted and final versions of the manuscript.

Student authors

JRISA welcomes student authors, including secondary school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Student manuscripts are evaluated using the same core standards of academic integrity, clarity, ethical research practice, and appropriate scholarly methodology applied to all manuscripts.

Students may publish independently or with research mentors when authorship criteria are met. A teacher, mentor, advisor, or program instructor should not be listed as an author solely because they supervised the student.

For authors who are minors, the journal may request appropriate parent or guardian authorization in connection with publication agreements or other administrative requirements.

Funding and conflict of interest

Authors must disclose financial support relevant to the submitted research. Example: “This research received no external funding.”

Authors must also disclose any financial, professional, academic, personal, or organizational relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the work. Example: “The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”

Data availability

Empirical articles should include a Data Availability Statement. Suggested wording includes:

• The data used in this study are publicly available at [repository/link].
• The data supporting the findings of this study may be available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request, subject to applicable ethical and privacy restrictions.
• The data are not publicly available because they contain information subject to privacy, confidentiality, or institutional restrictions.
• No new datasets were generated or analyzed for this article.
